Kentegra Investments was started by an experienced team of business executives and commercial/industrial real estate developers. The site serves as an online brochure for potential investors and buyers in the development projects. An image gallery showcases aspects of each project. A Get in Touch form on each page makes it easy for users to take action.
My clients requested a convenient way to add and categorize new developments, one that could expand as the business expands. The site links to developments using traditional menu systems, links from a carousel, and simple browse arrows from one project to the next. As the project list expands, search and a category page will be added. Design is by Allen Gragg of GoGoStudio.
Gondola Romantica provides romantic gondola trips on the scenic St. Croix river along the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin. My client needs a way for customers to book the cruises online and to schedule his gondoliers for each day. We built a custom application that fits both of these needs, creating the most efficient schedule for each day, even though the cruises last for varying amounts of time.
Since the gondola cruises combine the ultra romantic and luxurious with gorgeous natural scenery along the St. Croix, we worked to give the site that same appeal. And since searches for “gondola cruises” are rare in Minnesota and Wisconsin, the site uses alternative methods of promotion such as Facebook, newsletters and links from other tourism related sites.
ACT Ready prepares students to take and succeed at the ACT Test for college admission. In addition to providing general information about their courses, the site gives my clients a way to update course dates and times. A section for newsy updates or promotions is provided on the home page (a good way to let Google know the page keeps up to date). The complex registration forms are provided through Jot Forms.
I initially worked with my clients when they had a small site using one of the do-it-yourself tools. We set up Jot Form then to provide registration for their classes as the DIY didn’t provide that option. As their needs grew, we created a more complex site in WordPress, but saved money by linking to JotForms rather than recreating the forms in WordPress.
Nature’s International Certification Services
Nature’s International is an organic certification agency located in Wisconsin. Organic certification requires following an extensive set of rules, rules that can change from year to year. So NICS needed a site where they could update information, post new forms, and let its clients know about relevant upcoming events.
They also wanted a complex search function so that users can search their certified associates by name, location, product scope and specific products. Each search provides even more detailed information about the producer, including the critical information on whether their certification is up to date or not.
R&R Specialties specializes in all things ice rink, including Zamboni sales and service, ice rink ceilings, ice paints and painting and other arena supplies. Their previous site lacked the on-page SEO they needed, especially since their big-ticket item – Zamboni ice resurfacers – didn’t have its own page. We changed that to make sure the Zambonis got the real estate they deserved. My clients said they noticed an uptick in calls soon after the new site was launched.
R&R also offers yearly seminars on repairing Zamboni ice resurfacers and ice rink painting. The site setup makes it easy to move the seminar announcement to near the top of the home page when the yearly seminar is a few months away.
EPL Archives securely stores and archives a variety of research and manufacturing materials, including biologics, hazardous, and radioactive materials. Their storage facilities can store materials at temperatures ranging from controlled room temperature down to -196°C. They are recognized as a leader in their complex field.
I have worked with them since 2011, creating new versions of their site and keeping the site updated and secure, a primary requirement. During their recent acquisition, a corporate team used the existing site as a base and modified it to coordinate with the sites of the other companies they own. I continue to work with both the corporate team and the original team to maintain and modify the site as needed.
This talented artist wanted a site that reflects her style, with an emphasis on the aloha spirit of Hawaii, her second home. She also needed an easy way to add new paintings and painting details to her site.
WordPress made it easy to add pages covering her additional talents – as a musician and Tai Chi instructor. A news section announces both art showings and music concerts.
Declare It Spiritwear
The Declare It Spiritwear site was created with two major goals in mind: promote my client’s custom embroidery and garment printing services and streamline the complex ordering process, especially for groups. The site needed to be colorful and energetic, clearly explain the types of services available, and make ordering simple for each individual member of each group. My client also asked for a way to export records to QuickBooks
We were able to provide all the requested functionality. My client was happy to discover that we could also provide ways to make uploading new products and product variations simpler as well. A mobile-friendly version of the site is in the planning stages.
Expert Physician Evaluations
Expert Physician Evaluations provides physicians for expert, unbiased medical evaluations and opinions to independent medical evaluation companies, legal and insurance clients.
Their original site was an html site and needed to be updated by a developer whenever they wanted to add new content. I moved their site into WordPress and gave them a simple way to add new physicians to their list, organizing them by specialty. Putting their fairly complex request form online gives potential clients an immediate way to make a request for a physician.
White Label Sites
Over the years, along with some of my subcontractors, I’ve created multiple white label sites – sites produced for other agencies or designers and displayed with their branding. It’s work I enjoy because it exposes me to many different types of requirements and designs.
I’ve consulted and coded for large corporate websites and for complex web design/development projects for other companies. I also create landing pages, pages designed to convert users who click on ads to purchasers of products or services. Additionally, I maintain, update and modify many of these sites on an ongoing basis.
Rising Sun Animal Wellness Center
Rising Sun is a veterinary clinic that offers both traditional and alternative medicine for its clients. The original site needed an update and I was happy to work with my long term client on providing a more modern look.
The mobile-friendly look is fresh and inviting. Multiple ways to add new content makes it easy to get the word out. Filling out forms online saves both providers and clients time. Using Facebook to promote the site has been a successful strategy and Facebook posts right on the home page invite users to become a fan.
(Update: The owner recently retired so the site will also be retired soon.)
